I've put up a website!  Please come visit my site at thepootermom.wix.com/quiltbeagle
You can also view some of my quilts at my Flickr site, some are just tops and I need to add more photos of new ones, but I'll post them when I get them on the long arm.  Come visit and browse if you like, just follow the link on the right side of the page.  I'm still working on the quilt that I have to send to NC and will post some photos when it's completed but it's coming out great and I'm very pleased, as is it's owner.  Have a great day everyone!

Ugh, today is just too hot and muggy to do anything but stay inside in the A/C so I loaded a friend of mine's quilt top on the long arm.  It's my first quilting design using 100% ruler work as I generally do either an all over free motion design or mix ruler work with free motion shapes and swirls, whatever the customer wants. I only have the top portion done so far but I think it looks great...what do you think?  I'll post another photo when it's completed as well as a photo of the Labyrinth Walk quilt that I finished up.  It's waiting for a binding but it will have to wait until this one is done as I have to bring it up to my friends house in NC later this month.  We'll be going from there to Quilt Fest Tennessee to take a few workshops. Should be fun!

Also wanted to say Happy Birthday USA!  I hope everyone is getting a chance to enjoy the day with friends, family and BBQ's,  Enjoy tonight's fireworks and if you're setting some off yourself, please be safe.

It's been a while since I blogged but I'll be updating regularly as I started my website and am doing longarm quilting for customers now.  I specialize in freemotion using rulers and freehand swirls and various designs.  The machine I have is a HQ Avante with a stitch regulator and I love it!  It really gets my creative side working.

I have a website now, you can see some of the work I've taken photos of and posted.  There's been a lot more that I've done but could kick myself for not taking pictures of them.  I'm working on (and almost finished with) the Labyrinth Walk quilt.  It's one of mine and don't you just love the 3-D look it has?   I'll take a photo when it's finished so you can see the entire thing.

I building a website now, you can see what I have so far it at  http://thepootermom.wix.com/quiltbeagle  but I'll be changing the address to a permanent one within the next week but come visit and let me know what you think.  Welcome to my new online life.  Till next time!

Lookie Lookie What we Got!

Lookie lookie!  We have a new pet...isn't she cute?  She's very tiny and a very light palomino color.  She's not really all that used to people yet, having been running with a herd of minis for all of her 3 years, but is following us around like a puppy already.  She was delivered to us in the passenger compartment of a pick-up truck and so my neighbor thought we were getting a new dog.   When he came over to see it he just laughed and laughed.  We named her Snickerdoodles (she's the color of snickerdoodle cookies) but we just call her Snickers or Snicks.  She's too small to turn out with the cows so she just stays in the acre we have fenced off around the house  We need to find her a small friend so we'll have to see what we can come up with.   Here's a couple of photos of her.

Snickers

That's me with her.  I'm only 5'2" so you can see how little she is.

Till next time! Hopefully it won't be another 5 months.

What!?!?!?! It's March already?!?!?!?!

I can't BELIEVE it's March!  Actually will be April in a few weeks.  I'm truly not meant to be a blogger.  I wish I could keep up with it, but it's hopeless.  I'm just not a writer I guess.

I finally did finish that Bonnie Hunter quilt though.  Here it is all bound and on my bed.  Came in handy on the cold nights we had.  I quilted it in the quilt-as-you-go method, though by rows and not by individual blocks.  Here's a photo of my version of Bonnie's Pineapple Blossom.

Where did that month go?

I can't believe a month has gone by since posting.  I've been so busy doing everything and nothing.  I joined the on-line version of Weight Watchers on July 30th and have been doing well.  So far I've lost 25 pounds and have been finding it not so hard, really.  I have the support of my husband and kids and have found the Hungry Girl website to also be a great help with her suggestions for different foods..  The hardest thing was getting the mindset to just START.   I have a long way to go and will keep you posted.  I've been using a nice treadmill that we purchased used at a sporting goods store.  It's so nice to be able to walk inside where it's not 100 degrees, and without getting gnats in your eyes or having to continuously swat yellow flies away.  They hurt when they bite!

On the quilt subject, I'm STILL working on that Pineapple Blossom pattern from Bonnie Hunter's site.  It's taking FOREVER!  I really need to get it finished since the quilt on my bed has gotten thin and has tears in it (it's 18 years old and has been washed more times than I can remember).

I have several more quilts that I want to start, and I also want to do the new mystery one that Bonnie will be starting posting in November.   I think she called it Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll.  Can't wait!  I just love her patterns.

Well, the kids are up and it's time to get everyone ready for school.  I have a busy day today, lots of running around to do, so may not get to sew...again.  Have a great day!

September 1st

It's September and peak hurricane season is here. Hurricane Earl is threatening the coast of NC northward and Fiona is behind that one. We'll see what happens if Gaston strengthens. I'm always so nervous during the hurricane season. Last time we had the three in a month that hit here I had to pick up pieces of my roof from out of the pasture, we had downed trees blocking our road, water moccasins coming around the house due to all the water, and as an added bonus, no electricity for weeks.

I put some new photos in my Flickr site. Most of my quilts are posted, please have a look if you like. Just click on the link. I'll post more as I do more.

Till next time!
