Where did that month go?

I can't believe a month has gone by since posting.  I've been so busy doing everything and nothing.  I joined the on-line version of Weight Watchers on July 30th and have been doing well.  So far I've lost 25 pounds and have been finding it not so hard, really.  I have the support of my husband and kids and have found the Hungry Girl website to also be a great help with her suggestions for different foods..  The hardest thing was getting the mindset to just START.   I have a long way to go and will keep you posted.  I've been using a nice treadmill that we purchased used at a sporting goods store.  It's so nice to be able to walk inside where it's not 100 degrees, and without getting gnats in your eyes or having to continuously swat yellow flies away.  They hurt when they bite!

On the quilt subject, I'm STILL working on that Pineapple Blossom pattern from Bonnie Hunter's site.  It's taking FOREVER!  I really need to get it finished since the quilt on my bed has gotten thin and has tears in it (it's 18 years old and has been washed more times than I can remember).

I have several more quilts that I want to start, and I also want to do the new mystery one that Bonnie will be starting posting in November.   I think she called it Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll.  Can't wait!  I just love her patterns.

Well, the kids are up and it's time to get everyone ready for school.  I have a busy day today, lots of running around to do, so may not get to sew...again.  Have a great day!

September 1st

It's September and peak hurricane season is here. Hurricane Earl is threatening the coast of NC northward and Fiona is behind that one. We'll see what happens if Gaston strengthens. I'm always so nervous during the hurricane season. Last time we had the three in a month that hit here I had to pick up pieces of my roof from out of the pasture, we had downed trees blocking our road, water moccasins coming around the house due to all the water, and as an added bonus, no electricity for weeks.

I put some new photos in my Flickr site. Most of my quilts are posted, please have a look if you like. Just click on the link. I'll post more as I do more.

Till next time!

Where has the time gone?

Well, it's now August, yes, AUGUST ! I really need to get to this blog more often. The summer was hot and the kids were home from school. Now that school is in again maybe I can get to that hand quilting? Probably not for a bit. I'm cleaning the house and working on another Bonnie Hunter quilt. The top is almost done and I'm going to try quilting it in sections. Maybe I'll be able to fit it under my sewing machine using that method and it won't take me as long as that hand quilted Drunkard's Path. That one's been a stop and go project since the year 2000? or 2001? It's getting harder and harder to do hand quilting with the arthritis making my fingers go numb. I can only quilt for 10 minutes or so at a time, and that's when I even get to sew on it at all.

I updated my Flickr photo account today with some dolls I made and polymer clay sculptures. Please link to it and have a look at some of my stuff. I'll put the Bonnie Hunter quilt on there when it's done (it's called Pineapple Blossom).

Till next time!

Still Plugging Along

I'm still hand quilting that Drunkard's Path and it's really slow going. I'm trying to work on it a little each day, but sometimes I have to force myself to sit and do it. It will be well worth it when it's done though, so I keep plugging along. Slow and steady wins the race they say.
I spent some time this morning trying to figure out more about how to use Blogger and managed to add a few links. Please feel free to have a look at My Flickr Album. I also added Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville as a link. I just love her designs, and usually have at least one of them in the works here.

I've neglected my blog way to long!

When my friend Nancy mentioned that she had started a blog I remembered that I had one, too! Can you believe that my last (and first) entry was in March of 2009? I really have to update this more, don't you think? I've been busy since March...went to NY in July to see my Mom (recipient of the Square Dance quilt). Got to see the rest of the family as well. Then back to Florida in time to get the kids ready for the new school year. Now Christmas and New Year's are over...time has just flown! I PROMISE I'll get photos of everything up as soon as I can. I made a really funny Jill Mass doll, and a few quilt tops since March. I'll use my little domestic machine to quilt most of them, but thanks to Nancy I've also pulled my Drunkard's Path out of the closet to finish the hand quilting on it (I started quilting this when we had no power during the 2004 hurricanes...do you think I procrastinate?). I owe a thank you to Nancy for that bit of encouragement to get it going again. I'll also hand quilt the Ohio Rose as she suggested.
